Beginning August 17
The Mystery of God
A new Adult Faith Formation series will begin on Wednesday evening, August 17, using Bishop Robert Barron’s DVD presentations, The Mystery of God. In this series he uses insights from St. Augustine, Thomas of Aquinas, Pope Benedict XVI and others to present a clear understanding of what we mean by God Bishop Barron provides methods for Christians to respond to the New Atheism which is becoming so prevalent in today’s secular society. In our gatherings we will view his video presentation and have a discussion on his themes. We wil meet in the Ministry Center Library at 7:30 PM.
Beginning August 21
Challenge: The Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius
Challenge is a ten-month program based on the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius that aims to help improve prayer lives through a process of daily reflections and communal faith sharing. Meetings will take place on alternating Sunday evenings from 6:45 to 8:45 PM. The cost is $240, or $180 for registered St. Norbert parishioners and Loyloa Spirituality Institure members. Beginning September 7
This 11-part series on the Old Testament which tells the story of God’s ongoing revelation to the Hebrew people. By studying the texts we can see how the understanding of God and humanity’s relationship to Him developed over two thousand years before the coming of Christ. Our study will be augmented by video presentations by the renown Scripture scholar Daniel Smith-Christopher of Loyola Marymount University on the most important dates in the history of Israel and how they influenced the development of theology and the writing of the Scriptures. We meet in the Ministry Center Library from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on Wednesdays.
Beginning September 12
Acts: The Spread of the Kingdom
Our Monday Morning Bibe Study returns on September 12, with a study of the Acts of the Apostles.The Acts of the Apostles provides us more than a history of the First Christians--it is the story about the early Church with the Holy Spirit as the protagonist. Christ did not leave His Apostles alone--He sent the Holy Spirit to guide, instruct and equip them. Enrich and deepen your faith as you learn how the Apostles continued Christ’s mission on earth through the Power of the Holy Spirit. We will meet in the Ministry Center Library at 9:15 AM.
